Saiko

What happens when a long wait becomes a journey? Far away becomes close. All that I can remember – all the past things left untold – I feel a strong urge to get them off my chest. Saiko, I’m going to give you little snippets of my time: the silent movement, my slow advancement step by step through half-open, half-closed doors, fogged windows where the gaze tries to focus on the traces of the past. Each photo is a ticket ready to be validated. How will our meeting be after 4,015 sunrises and sunsets? What will we do? Will there be a handshake, a bow, a warm hug? Will we sit down, looking at each other, touching strands of hair nervously? Will we stare at each other with curiosity, looking for signs of our past? Tell me what has changed in our lives, and what is left of us. What happens as time goes by, and what takes place in the emptiness of our long wait? Saiko is the story of a trip that never started, a missed encounter which has turned into a long silence.
